ROADS: ATSF Between 1953 and 1958 75 Bx-3 cars were given insulation and reefer doors for ice service. Classed Ie-X, they were painted reefer gray. Many were lettered for the icing station to which they were assigned. Our kit 3701 models this car. Forty-five Bx-3`s were converted to salt service in the same way. They remained box car color except for a black "return" sign. Although looking like a reefer they remained class Bx-3. Our car is grouped with the Ie-X because the patterns are the same.
