D&IR purchased 750, numbering them Class E-7 series 10500-11249. D&MN also received 750 identical cars, clas u7 sereis 16000-16749. SOO Line bought 200 nearly identical cars (differing on n gussets on the side), series 8000- 80199. All cars were delivered before the Safety Appliances Act of 1911. All cars were upgraded in the late 'teens with corner ladders and a secong, deeper step. D&IR cars received a herald at ablut this time and MCB lettering. Lettering was simplified in the 1930s. Upon merger of D&IR and DM&N in 1938 the cars were relettered for DM&IR. The cars ran into the mid-1950s. Kit 11301 models the cars throughout their lives. Two models are included in each kit.
